A shared commitment to keeping the beaches of Los Cabos clean

Every coastline tells a story, and protecting it is a responsibility shared by everyone who enjoys it.

In Los Cabos, environmental care is part of an ongoing commitment. On September 14, colleagues from hotels located along the Pacific coast of Cabo San Lucas came together for a beach cleanup covering approximately 1.2 kilometers of coastline, as part of the initiatives surrounding International Coastal Cleanup Day, observed on the third Saturday of September.

Led by Grupo Solmar, the initiative brought together team members from Grand Solmar Land’s End, Solmar Resort and Playa Grande Resort, who joined efforts to collect waste along the Pacific shoreline.

One coastline, a shared responsibility

The beach cleanup reflects an important principle: environmental responsibility extends beyond individual properties.

As Ana Lizbeth Herrera, Sustainability Coordinator at Grupo Solmar, explained, these initiatives are part of an annual calendar that includes at least three to four beach cleanups throughout the year. This year, the effort also responds to the increase in waste that can reach the coastline following weather events.

More than maintaining a clean shoreline, these activities encourage collaboration among hotels, employees, visitors, and the wider community.

The Pacific coastline is a shared natural environment, and caring for it requires a collective effort.

Beyond a single day of cleanup

Environmental stewardship does not begin or end with a beach cleanup.

Throughout the year, hotels across the area participate in educational initiatives for both employees and guests. These include talks and activities focused on topics such as bird conservation, recycling, and environmental awareness.

Guests are also encouraged to make mindful choices during their stay, including disposing of waste properly and choosing reusable products whenever possible. At the pool areas, for example, reusable cups help reduce reliance on single-use items.

Small actions, practiced consistently, can become part of a broader culture of environmental care.

Protecting the places that make Los Cabos special

The natural beauty of Los Cabos is one of the destination's greatest treasures, from its Pacific coastline and desert landscapes to the marine life that inhabits its waters.

For Grupo Solmar, initiatives such as these are an opportunity to strengthen environmental awareness while bringing people together around a common purpose.

Because nature does not recognize property lines, protecting it is a responsibility we share.

A commitment that continues beyond World Cleanup Day

World Cleanup Day serves as a reminder, but caring for our beaches is an ongoing commitment.

By joining forces with neighboring hotels and encouraging guests and employees to participate in responsible practices, Grupo Solmar continues working toward a culture where environmental stewardship becomes part of everyday life.
