There's always great fishing in Cabo, but if you're serious about your rod and reel, you'll want to join in one of the tournaments that take place here. in August, you can sign up for Bisbee's East Cape Tournament from August 1-5.
The East Cape Tournament includes three days out at sea, with competitive lines in the water from 7am to 4pm. Seven kinds of fish count towards your tournament tally: blue marlin, black marlin, striped marlin, sailfish, spearfish, dolphin, and tuna. You know we're talking big fish when marlin under 300 pounds get penalty points! (The striped marlin, sailfish, and spearfish earn release points only).
It's worth fighting those fish and reeling them in. There are cash prizes, paid out based on total entry fees. They'll be awarded to the team with the single biggest billfish (black or blue marlin) and the team with the single heaviest gamefish (tuna or dorado). Teams with the most release points win prize money and a trophy. There are daily jackpots, as well.
After a day at sea, dive into one of our pools and swim up to the bar to tell your fish tales. You can head to the spa for a massage to soothe any muscles aching from fish that put up a fight. Whether you want to lie on the sand and stare at the ocean while you dream of bigger fish, or go ahead and charter a boat for another day with lines in the water, Solmar and Cabo are the perfect destination for fishermen!
